Why Pray 2

The greatest way we increase our intimacy with God through the struggles and disappointments in our life. No matter where we are in life right now, God has promised to never leave us or forsake us. He is always available for us when we are in need. Prayer is the tool God has given to us to build a trusting relationship with Him.

Prayer invites God into your life as you participate in your relationship with Him.

God is always praying for us as He takes the first step of pursuing a relationship with us. The Person of the Holy Spirit intercedes for us according to the will of God (Romans 8:26-27). When we pray, we are joining the Holy Spirit in the act of presenting ourselves to God with all our hurts, struggles and needs. We don’t walk through life alone, we have a powerful ally at our side.

We are never alone because God is always available for a relationship with us. The more we pursue doing things for God, the more satisfied we become. Prayer doesn’t have to be limited to words just as a relationship is more than talking. We build relationships with our children by playing with them whether or not it includes a deep life altering conversation during the relationship time. If anything, the relationship time leads to conversation time more than the other way around. We might experience the deepest moments of our prayer life by actively finding things to do with God. The more time we spend doing things with God, the more often we will be drawn into a conversation with Him.

God doesn’t need an invitation to be involved in your life, but inviting God in stimulates change in your life.

God wants to do more for us than give us a prize at the end of the finish line of life. He wants to join us in the mess of life and bless us even now. This world is His too, and He offers us hope and change in this life too.
