Why Pray 1

One of the primary ways we experience God is through prayer. Prayer is by its simplist definition is communicating with God in the form of a relationship.

When we pray, we are conversing with the God of the universe. Like any conversation, our prayer life has two sides, talking and listening. Often we are better at the talking part, than sitting and listening to what God has to say. “When you pray, do not babbel on with many words” (Matthew 6:5-15). Instead we should praise God and listen for His voice more than asking for requests.

Prayer is more complex than compelling the celestial slot machine in hopes of getting what you want.

Prayer isn’t about getting God to do things for us. Prayer is communicating with God and surrendering to His will. When our life is saturated in prayer, we are less concerned about getting our own way and more concerned about God having His way. Prayer should make our life more about surrender than having our own way.

Prayer is the fuel that drives your spiritual relationship with God.

When we foster a relationship with God and keep our hope stayed on His will, we can have peace. God spoke and the universe came into existence. When we take time to listen to Him speaking to us, His power explodes through us. We get fuel for our life through our prayer time.
