We Are Led

Everyone is being led by someone, some idea, or something. Whether we are aware of it or not, we are constantly being led by the things we see, hear and experience. The subtle messages we hear over and over again sit in our minds and eventually form our thoughts. This is why we need to memorize and keep the Word of God at the center of our attention. “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night …” (Joshua 1:8). We may not realize how important keeping God’s word in the forefront of our minds, but it shapes our worldview.

What are you being led by?

The best way we can know what we are being led by is how we react. Jesus said it this way, “You will know them by their fruits.” (Matthew 7:16). We can figure out what we are meditating on by how we react to things that happen to us and people who think differently than us. “For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45). We can discover what is going on within our heart by what is coming out of our mouth and our life.

The principle thing in life is to follow Jesus Christ; everything else is commentary.

While there are many important things to be concerned about in life, the most important thing we should be concerned about is knowing and following Jesus. Everything else is secondary to our relationship with God. If we allow other things to become more important to us than serving God, then our value of God will slowly fade, unnoticed till we begin to care little about the things of God. There are many distractions in life. We have to stay focused on what matters most.
