Uncertain Darkness 4
Life is a journey of becoming where we get to become who God made us to be. God gave us a set of unique talents and abilities, and He wants us to use them in a unique way. He has placed us in unique circumstances among a unique set of people that we have a unique relationship with. The gospel doesn’t change, but the way we share the gospel with the unique people we share it with is going to be different than the way we share the gospel with any other unique person.
The one thing that unifies all believers is God’s command to share His gospel and grow in faith.
God has not finished the great work He has begun in us. Even if we feel lost and confused in our direction in life, we can move forward knowing that God is still preparing the path for us. While we don’t know what our path will look like, we know two characteristics that will describe our path: serving God and serving others. The way we serve God is by doing what God created us to do. One of the primary things God has created us to do is to have a deepening, growing relationship with Him. The way we serve others is by loving them, and we can’t genuinely love others without sharing the gospel and our spiritual gifts with them.
The best way to stand in the darkness of a sin-filled world is to hold the hand of a neighbor while God clears away the darkness.
Too often, we want to take the flashlight out of God’s hand and violently wave it around us as we attempt to vanquish all the darkness around us at the same time. It isn’t until we calmly return the flashlight to God and let Him clear our path. In His timing, He shows us how to make sense of the darkness. God will always be better than we are at knowing what to clear out of our path and what to lead us through; we have to trust Him.
