Uncertain Darkness 1
Our journey of life is filled with uncertain darkness as we walk into the future, but God will guide us through the uncertainty that lies ahead.
We sometimes wish we knew the future or at least could take a glimpse into the future to know how best to react in a current situation. If we knew the future, we would put our faith in our decisions today to create our tomorrow, we would trust our decision making ability more than we trust God. God created the world in a way that needs us to make decisions, but at the same time, He determines the outcomes. God doesn’t show us the future because then we would trust our own abilities to get us there.
Do you trust God more than the circumstances and outcomes of your life?
If we knew the destinations in life we were moving towards, we would choose the easiest path to get to those points. It is in the darkest moments that we learn to trust God the most. Without the struggles and hardships in life, we couldn’t have the same trusting relationship with God.
Life will often put us in unexpected circumstances, so we need to build a secure relationship with the only One who transcends the circumstances of life, God. If we are in a season of light troubles and temptations, we should spend time developing our relationship with God because we will come to points in our journey that we need a strong relationship with God to get us through. If we are in a time of more intense struggles and hardships, we can lean into the relationship we built with Jesus. Jesus is the only One who knows what life will look like on the other side of our storm and we can trust Him to get us there.
You can always trust the One who is certain even in the uncertainties of life.
If “God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5), why do we sometimes feel like our entire life is darkness. God doesn’t move away from us, but sometimes it feels like God isn’t there. The answers to our questions don’t always come as soon as we want them to. In the midst of the darkness and the trials our hope is often that the dark tunnel will come to an end. But God wants us to have our hope in Him and to trust Him in the darkness as much as we do in the light. So what should we do in the darkness? Continue to walk with the Light (1 John 1:7a) and remain in fellowship with other believers who are walking in the Light (1 John 1:7b).
Love cannot be devoid of fellowship. So to love God and love your neighbor, you have to be in fellowship with both God and neighbor.
Remember, God wants to give us hope and a future, but He also wants to make sure we receive it from Him and not from our own selfish ambitions.
