Treasure Hunt

Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance. … Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him; … For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. For you shall go out with joy, and be led out with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth into singing before you, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree; and it shall be to the Lord for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.

Isaiah 55:1-13

You have to narrow your focus.

There are important things in life and there are more important things in life. Don't confuse the important things with the more important things. If you are thirsty, you should search out water to drink, and if you are hungry, you should buy bread or something that will satisfy your hunger. However, when we are hungry, we often buy the piece of fudge that catches our attention but doesn’t satisfy our hunger. Before you are hungry, you need to discover what will satisfy you so when hunger drives you into action, you have determined where you will spend your wages and resources to satisfy your need. When you eat what is good, not just what is immediately available, your soul will have abundance. The rain that comes from Heaven to water your soul are the words that go forth from God’s mouth. His word causes you to grow and produce bread to feed others. You have to drink the rain to cool and refresh your soul instead of putting up umbrellas to shade from the heat, which will in turn block the rain.

The Bible is a treasure map.

Righteousness is the treasure chest, Jesus is the key, and salvation is the jewel. Yet without action they all stay buried. God’s word will teach you how to call to Him, forsake your own way and return to the Lord. God provides everything for you, but you have to be willing to go on the quest to discover what is righteous. If you decide to go on the quest and find the treasure chest of righteousness and what it means to be righteous, you will find that the only way to become righteous and open the chest is through Jesus. And if you let Jesus unlock righteousness for you, you will find the jewel of salvation inside, which is freely given to you if you use Jesus to unlock the treasure chest. The everlasting signs of joy and singing are there for you to follow, but you have to be determined to keep following the signs and not stop for fudge and abandon the rest of the quest. Determine that only righteousness will satisfy you and seek it like a lost treasure.
