Feed your mind
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:7-10
What you starve dies; what you feed will grow stronger.
You have to choose what will be important to you in your life. The more time and attention you give to a subject, the more that subject will have value and meaning in your life. It’s not always the more important subjects that have the highest value in your life, it’s the subject you focus on the most. The more you focus on sin, the more it will control your thoughts. The more you resist sin and temptation, the less it will be attractive to you and the better you will be able to resist it. The more important subjects in your life will be the subjects that you feed. And alternatively, the subjects that you ignore will become less important to you.
All decisions have long-term and short-term outcomes.
Feeding is not a one time event. Feeding is an ongoing process of repeated decisions. Each decision affects future decisions that you will make. Some decisions seem to not have long-term outcomes, but they influence the other decisions that will have a long-term outcome. What you sow now is what you will have available to feed on later. If you sow corn, you will reap corn, and you will eat corn. If you sow the fruit of the spirit, and you will have spiritual food to feed yourself and others with. The food you have available to feed yourself with is also the food you have to share with others and the seeds you have available to sow for next year’s crops. The decisions you make now will have both short term and long term consequences.
Think about every decision you make and make good decisions.
The most important field you can sow, reap and feed is the field of your mind.
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. Romans 8:5-7
The thoughts you feed will be the long term patterns that control your mind. Feeding your spiritual thoughts will transform your mind to turn away from worldly things and towards godly things.
