The Seed of the Word
We are planted by streams of living water. It is God who plants us and it is God who waters the stream that nourishes us.
What type of plant are you?
Only the good soil produces a harvest (Matthew 13:8). We have to till, fertilize and train the soil of our soul to make it ready for the seed to grow in it. No one gets a free pass from the hard work of preparing the soil. whether or not the seed grows is mostly dependant upon how we prepare our soil - everyone gets the same seed. The one seed that is planted into the good soil is the Word of God. The farmers job is not done when the seed takes root and sprouts. We have to continue to tend the soil of our heart. The seed produces a plant that is of the same species of the seed because the blue prints for the plant is in the seed. When it matures, the plant will produce seed, and when we mature in our spiritual growth, we will produce spiritual seeds
What seed do you produce?
When a plant matures it produces fruit, but it only produces the kind of fruit that is the same species as the plant.(Genesis 1:11). The Word of God will only produce in us the Word of God. If we are producing any other fruit than the seeds of the Word of God, we are the wrong kind of plant. (Matthew 7:15-20). The seed that was sown in us was the Word of God; the life you live should model the Word of God; and the fruit you produce should be the Word of God.
The fruit you produce has to mature.
Just like any other fruit, your fruit has to ripen. The Word of God works in you and changes you over time. Fruit begins little and doesn't taste completely right until it has matured. Trying to rush God's Word transforming you life doesn't happen. 1 Timothy 3:6 warns of the side effects of trying to rush the process of growth. When we let God Word mature in us, it will produce fruit that feeds others and points back to sowing the Word of God into new soil.
