The Holy of Holies
But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. … Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
Hebrews 10:12-23
Jesus is the veil you enter through.
The Holy of Holies is the quintessential expression of God’s dwelling place on earth. Jesus stepped out of the Holy of Holies to live among us who live on the outside. On the cross, Jesus ripped the veil (Matthew 27:51) as he went back into the holy of holies—God’s dwelling place. He came back out of the holy of holies for a time and dwelt among us until the ascension. Just as Moses’ face glowed after being in God’s presence, so Jesus’ body was able to walk through walls ((Luke 24:36, John 20:19) after being in the holy of holies before He ascended (John 20:17). As you draw near to the holy of holies, God changes you. Each time you draw near to God, you get washed with pure water so that you glow to the world around you, even if you don’t notice.
God offers a relationship to you; you decide what kind of relationship you want.
Now that Jesus has opened access to the holy of holies, you can have a deep relationship with God. You can step into that relationship and be drawn further in towards God’s presence, or you can walk away. Everyone has a relationship with God: a deep one, a shallow one, a bad one or somewhere in between. The veil has been opened, you can decide if you want to enter, but you have to decide if you want to go inside. Inside the Holy of Holies, you will find a deep love that fills all who would enter. God’s over-abundant love cannot be contained in the Holy of Holies, so it flows out of the opening and beckons outsiders to come near.
The music of the gospel sounds better to those who want to listen.
Water tastes better to those who are thirsty, and those who desire the gospel more hear it more clearly.
“There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?” Simon answered and said, “I suppose the one whom he forgave more.” And He said to him, “You have rightly judged.” Luke 7:41-43
The gospel is freely offered to you if you will receive it, and when you receive it, you begin to realize how great a gift the gospel is. Jesus tore through the veil to the Holy of Holies and it is the only way you can enter into God’s holy place. Decide you want a relationship with God, and pursue His love.
