Stand

All flesh is grass, and all its loveliness is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, because the breath of the Lord blows upon it; surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever. Isaiah 40:6-8

If you know Jesus it doesn't matter what happens to you in life.

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Romans 8:16-18

If you know Jesus, then all the suffering of this world will be insignificant because you will dwell in the house of the Lord as His children forever. Pure refined gold is great, but it is mere pavement in the kingdom of Heaven. If the Holy Spirit bears witness with your Spirit and you have become a joint heir with Christ, it doesn’t matter what happens to you in life.

If you don't know Jesus, it doesn't matter what happens to you in life.

If you don’t know Jesus, then all the goodness of this world will be insignificant. As the flower fades, so will every good thing of this world. “... even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.” (Matthew 6:29). Gaining all the glory this world has to offer is pointless because it will all fade away. You can spend your time pursuing what is pointless or you can spend your time pursuing a glory that will not fade.

It matters that you know Jesus.

The word of God will stand forever. If you want to stand when the world falls, you need to stand with God and the Word with the power of the Holy Spirit within you enabling you to stand. People are like grass, they will wither away as the whole earth withers away. But the breath of the Lord can blow life into you again just as he breathed life into his creation at the dawn of time. The word of the Lord that spoke the world into existence is the word that will sustain you and blow a fresh breathe of God’s Spirit into you. Only one thing matters in life and it is that you know the God whose word brings life to you now as well as when the earth withers away.
