Puzzle Pieces
Oh, that You would rend the heavens! That You would come down! That the mountains might shake at Your presence—as fire burns brushwood, as fire causes water to boil—to make Your name known to Your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at Your presence! When You did awesome things for which we did not look, You came down, the mountains shook at Your presence. For since the beginning of the world men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen any God besides You, who acts for the one who waits for Him. You meet him who rejoices and does righteousness, who remembers You in Your ways. You are indeed angry, for we have sinned—in these ways we continue; and we need to be saved. But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; we all fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. And there is no one who calls on Your name, who stirs himself up to take hold of You; for You have hidden Your face from us, and have consumed us because of our iniquities. But now, O Lord, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You our potter; and all we are the work of Your hand. Do not be furious, O Lord, nor remember iniquity forever; indeed, please look—we all are Your people!
Isaiah 64:1-9
God can only put together your broken heart if you give Him all the pieces.
The mountains shake and the heavens break apart at the mere presence of God. While His presence splits everything apart, He also holds everything together like a glued together puzzle. Only God can put back together the puzzle of a broken heart. He gently tugs at the pieces you might be clinging to, but He does not pull them out of your hands. As you slowly give the pieces of your life to God, He puts them back together where they are supposed to be. If you don’t give God all the pieces of your heart, the individual pieces won’t fit back together the way they are supposed to.
Jesus is the piece you're missing to put your life back together.
A puzzle will never be finished if you’re missing a piece, your life won’t fit together right if you don't have Jesus as the edge pieces of your puzzle holding all of your other pieces together. Without Jesus framing and holding your life together, your life won’t make sense. God alone knows how the picture of your life should come together. When you try to put Jesus into parts of your life on your own, you will force pieces into places where they don’t belong. When you give the pieces of your life to God and let Him put them together, you will find that Jesus comes alive in every piece of your puzzle as He puts the picture of your life together as it should be.
When you learn that your supplies are not enough, you begin to learn about God's supplies.
If you try to put your puzzle together on your own, you will fail. You don’t have the box to look at, and none of the pieces will fit together correctly because you don’t know how it is supposed to work within the schematic of the picture. You will spend all of your time spinning the same piece around trying to figure out where it should go in your picture if you don’t give the piece to God. When you realize you don’t know where the piece is supposed to go and you hand it over to God, your puzzle will begin to come together. You don’t have the supplies, wisdom or ability to put your puzzle together on your own, you have to let God supply you with all your needs and take control of putting your puzzle together. When you let God put your picture together, you will find that Jesus frames your picture and is at the center of every part of your picture, but you have to give all of your pieces to God and let Him put you together.
