Fulfill Your Calling

We are alive because God has a mission and purpose for us. He has placed within each of us a unique calling that we are driven to fulfill. We have to fulfill our own calling. We can help clothes fulfill their calling, but we will feel empty trying to fulfill someone else’s calling.

The place God calls you to is where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.

When Adam sinned, sin entered the world and broke the creation’s relationship with the Creator. The whole universe continues to long to be redeemed and restored to a right relationship with God (Romans 8:18-22). God put mankind on earth to tend and keep His creation (Genesis 2:15). We are part of God’s redemption plan for the world. God has given each of us an assignment and a deep desire to fulfill that assignment. We have a natural desire to do something productive and we are glad when we are doing that. Unfortunately, we can high-jack our mission and joy in life by pursuing things that God has not called us to. We have to know what God has called us to do, say no to everything else and pursue God’s mission for our life with all our lives.

You won't go anywhere if your gears aren't engaged.

If we have the best race car, the best race car driver, and the best pit crew, we still won’t win the race if we don’t get to the starting line. It doesn’t matter how much we have or know, it matters what we do. If we want to walk a thousand miles, we have to start taking steps. We have to be engaged in the journey to have it happen, we can’t remain spectators. God gives us a mission and calling, but we have to fulfill it. We have to do the good things God has prepared for us to do. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10). The good works have been prepared for us already, we simply have to walk in them.
