The Size Of Our God
“With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26). With the many things happening in the world around us, we can sometimes forget how big a God we serve. The mountains are His, the valleys are His; the skies are His handiwork too. Everything in creation came out of the voice of God when He spoke the universe into creation. When we worry about the things of this earth, we are forgetting how big our God is.
Don't let your faith be smaller than the size of your God.
Faith is the coalescence of belief and action (Hebrews 11, James 2:14-26). For our faith to match the size of our God, we need to both believe our God is bigger than we can believe and obey Him more than we believe we can. We can only obey God to the extent that we can believe, so to expand our ability to obey God, we have to expand our belief in Him. Belief and behavior are intimately connected. The more we believe, the greater our propensity to behave in a manner that matches our beliefs. As our capacity to believe grows, our capacity to obey grows, and as our capacity to obey grows, our capacity to believe will grow as well.
Follow God whether it is hard or easy, whether in trouble or peace.
Who we are is who we are. We may change and grow in life, but who we are at any point in our life is who we are regardless of our circumstances. Hard times simply exacerbate and exhibit who we are. When following God is our primary focus during times of peace, we will find that motivation and direction continues to lead us during times of trial. If we want to follow God, we will find a way whether it is easy or hard. If we only partially want to follow God, we will find an excuse. The hard or easy times simply show whether we are more inclined to make an excuse or a way to make it happen.
