Life Isn't Always Good, but God Is

We all have times when we need to weep. We all have times when life hurts. That is why Paul says, “Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.” Romans 12:15-16 (NKJV) God wants us to be real, and the way to be real is to live by the facts instead of in reaction to our feelings. The fact is:

Life is not always good, but God is always good.

Jesus promised that He would never leave us nor forsake us, so we can focus on the presence of God and His goodness instead of the bad stuff. When we are going through stuff, Jesus is there to comfort us if we look to Him. When Jesus abides in our lives, our joy can be full so that we can have joy no matter our circumstances.

When faced with temptations and trials, the Bible does not say to fret or worry; it tells us simply to count it all joy. We can rejoice during trials and temptations, knowing that God can use them to help us grow and encourage others if we do not lose heart.

Everyone will have trials at some point, but we can rejoice in the Lord always when our minds are set on the things above.

When we understand that God is working for our good, we can and should “rejoice always.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16 (NKJV) If we rejoice in the Lord in our hearts, regardless of our emotions or situations, He will be our strength. Therefore, “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!” Philippians 4:4 (NKJV)
