Inviting God into Every Moment

Prayer is very important in my life; I invite God into every moment.

Did you know that God cares about the big things and the small things in our lives?

When I try to operate on my own without His presence, I fall short of the glory that God has in store for me in the daily grind of life. But as I make time in my schedule to sit quietly before Him, to talk with Him and thank Him for what He has done, and will do, in and through me, everything changes. Instead of asking God to bless my plans, I thank Him for working in my life in the past and for completing everything that lies ahead in His way and time. As I ask Him for the desires of my heart, I continually thank Him in advance for providing for me in His way.

I have made a habit of thanking God for His goodness and for completing the good works He began in me whenever I get into my car. As I start up the engine of the car, I also start up the engine of prayer, saying, “Thank you Lord for... thank you Lord for... ”

Even on days when I feel frustrated, my habit of praying and thanking God has kept me from remaining upset.

As I continue the practice of prayer and inviting God into every moment of my life, the habit of thankful prayer continually replaces discontented thoughts and feelings that arise in me. This is the habit that Paul speaks of when he says, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NKJV)

Praying without ceasing does not mean to spend 24 hours a day in our room with our eyes closed. It means inviting God into our life continually, and praying in the car is one of the habits that I have developed to invite God’s presence into my life.
