Confidently Thankful

God wants us to be thankful for our own good. Being thankful boosts our self-esteem as we concentrate on what we have and who we are. When our life is rooted in Jesus, who we are doesn’t have to change when the situations around us change. In Thessalonians, it says, “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJV)

God wants you to be thankful in every situation.

We must thank God at all times for being present with us. If we only thank God during the good times, then we aren’t really giving thanks for God, we are giving thanks for good times. When we give thanks to God during the hard times, we are thanking God for always being present with us. We can be thankful during hard times because God doesn’t change with the times. Having a confidently thankful attitude even during hard times can be a great witness to others who are going through hard times.

We can always thank God for being God

While I have prayed for God to take away my physical ailments countless times, God has often given me the same message He gave Paul: “My grace is sufficient for you.” When I think about it, I am more grateful for my disabilities than regretful about them because it is through my disabilities that God has given me amazing opportunities to witness for Him. I could not have done the things in my life that have been done in my own strength. But through my weakness, as God became my strength I have been able to serve the Lord in remarkable ways. When we allow His strength to grow us through our weakness, our lives can become more than we ever imagined they could be.
