Choose To Eat
Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.” John 4:34-38
You cannot cause someone to believe.
Belief is a powerful act of the will. What you decide to believe can change the way you behave, the way you see the world and even how much truth is relevant to you. If you don’t believe that the crops are ripe and that you are supposed to participate in the harvesting, then you won’t go out into the fields. God has many fields and the fields are at different levels of ripeness. You may be called to plant in new fields, fertilize growing fields, or harvest ripe fields. And even though God may generally call you to work one specialty in crop production, you may know a certain field so well that He calls you to a task that is not your specialty because a field is your specialty. The crops are ripening, listen for how God would have you engage in the process and believe that He wants you to be involved.
If your mouth is closed, the water will spill on you instead of in you.
For food or water to nourish your body, you have to be willing to receive it. No matter how good the water or food is, if you don’t believe it is good for you, you will close your mouth to it and it will not be received for your benefit. You may or may not have labored for the nourishment you receive, but if you receive nourishment, you can use the energy it gives you to engage in the process of producing more food. The production of food and water is only useful if individuals are willing to open their mouth and receive it. You cannot open someone else’s mouth; you can only open your own mouth to nourish yourself. You can place food and water in front of someone so that the smell of the food and the vapor of the water may entice them to open their mouth.
Are you hungry for the right food?
The purpose for planting, fertilizing and harvesting a crop is to provide food. Engaging in the process of the growth of the crop produces food for yourself and for others. Even when food is produced and put in front of you, you have to decide whether you want to open your mouth and partake of it. You can choose to be a picky eater and only open your mouth for certain kinds of food and certain flavors of water. Only open your mouth for the right kind of food. Once you know you have the right kind of food in front of you, make sure you’re ready to open your mouth and partake of the life-giving nutrition. You choose when you open your mouth and you choose what food and water you put into it.
